A celebration of Afrikaans music in the Free State!

It is almost time for the fourth annual Ek DIE VRYSTAAT FEES in Bloemfontein, and this year it promises to bigger and better than ever before. Get the family together and head over to Bains Lodge on 22 September 2018, because this is not something that you want to miss!

The public can once again look forward to seeing 12 of the country’s biggest Afrikaans artists on one stage on the day. There will also be some interesting exhibitors, good wine and drinks to try and some of the most delicious food and snacks to enjoy.

We started the Ek DIE VRYSTAAT FEES because Bloemfontein is one of the most central points in South Africa and there was also a need for an Afrikaans festival in the Free State,” explains festival owner, Leon Pheiffer. “It is going to be a fun filled family event, in true Bloemfontein fashion, with artists performing on stage and some of the best food and drink exhibitors in the business. We will also be crowning Ms. Ek DIE VRYSTAAT during the course of the day. The Friday evening before the festival, we will be hosting an exclusive VIP wine tasting festival launch with performances by some of the singers, which will be held at the pool area at Bains Lodge.

Gates will open at 09:00 on the day and festivalgoers can look forward to being entertained by musicians like Dewald Wasserfall,

Leah, Ampie, Robbie Wessels, Jay, Lianie May, Nádine, Joe Foster, Zamar, Tussen Sterre, Monique Steyn, Dillon Lerm, Gretha Pers and Jemma throughout the day. At 22:00 will also be a after-party hosted by Dewald Wasserfall.

 “This year’s festival will have a more relaxed approach. The aim is to bring Afrikaners together to celebrate, dance and sing in their mother tongue and to experience true Free State hospitality. Visitors can bring their own picnic blankets and relax with delicious food and drinks. Children will also be thoroughly entertained throughout the day,” Pheiffer adds.

Tickets for the Ek DIE VRYSTAAT FEES are available from or at the gate (except for VIP-packages).

Ticket options to choose from:
• R180 per person with own blanket or chair;
• R500 per person for reserved VIP seats concert and wine-tasting show with selected artists; and
• R1 500 for a reserved table that seats six people.

If you enjoy a good outing with friends, cracking jokes and listening to good music, the biggest music festival in the Free State is just where you need to be. See you there!
