Welcome, all to the latest addition to BLUE MONKEY, the NERD REVIEW, which is pretty much going to be a review of new, available and up and coming games. Everything from MMO’s to STRATEGY games and more…
So I’ll start with a few points that stand out with this game.
1 – It’s an OPEN-World map, as you would expect with a proper MMORPG.
2- NO FACTIONS, meaning there’s no “good” or “bad” teams. All players have the option to play with or against one another. To join and help a friend or to be funny and destroy everything they have built up.
3- NO P2W! (pay to win)In my opinion, this is the best point of this game. What this means is that you are ONLY as strong as you make yourself within the game. NO auction houses or online store which makes it fair to all players both new and old, and your strength is based on your skill and not your wallet size.
4- SEASONS……. winter, summer, spring, and autumn. According to online reviews and a few vids available on youtube, the seasons will have a specific time that it will change according to the server you’re on, but(and this is a BIG but), the node system of the game might lengthen or shorten these as gameplay goes on. I’ll explain this in more detail a bit later.
5- (and the biggest stand out point of ASHES OF CREATION)! UNIVERSAL NPC… WAIT, WHAT? You read right. An universal NPC(non-player character). The entirety of the ASHES OF CREATION world is an NPC. Essentially what this means is that EVERYTHING you and other players do within the game WILL have an effect on the entire map and other players. Everything you do has consequences! And once done, they can’t be undone.
Now in point 4, I mentioned a NODE system.
Nodes are a lot of things. They are a pre-set location, wrapped in a zone of influence, in Ashes Of Creation’s world that can form into towns of different sizes. These sizes range from a small camp to a sprawling metropolis. The size of the towns depends on the contribution by players and how far they’ve advanced the Node. Players do not create the footprint of a Node, but within that footprint, they do have the ability to own land. Players who are part of the government for a specific Node will have the ability to modify building types and services further, but for the most part, a Node will grow along its own specific path (think about this more as NPCs building these towns out, rather than PCs individually putting buildings and walls up). A Node’s contribution area is larger than the actual town itself, allowing for players to adventure while building upon the town. Developers call this contribution are the Node’s “Zone of Influence,” and it’s the area where players help to advance the Node they are in.
Each Node can form into towns but are limited by their neighbors. The Nodes have different levels of advancement. There can only be so many of each level. Think of this as advanced settlements needing more elbow room. Nodes encompass more land as they grow and will require more effort to be sustained. This system is the main driver for change in the world because it creates scarcity. As Nodes advance in stages of growth, they will lock out neighboring Nodes from progressing, and will absorb their zones of influence.
In more easily understood terms, let’s think “WORLD OF WARCRAFT” mixed with the android game “CLASH OF CLANS”.
You have questing, AND, building all in one game. and in addition, EVERYTHING(AND I MEAN EVERYTHING) you do in the game, WILL have an effect on your gameplay and those around you on the server…
Now I also mentioned the SEASONAL changes. The node system will also have an effect on this as your choices within the game could prolong a winter for months (for example) and your FARMS CROPS (yes, crops) could fail and you’d have nothing to trade (and speaking of trading with others, you can actually get robbed). Summer could go on for a year and you could suffer a drought.
What I like about this is that the game feels real in this sense. The actual meaning of MMO is being pumped up and it’s becoming futuristic, which I welcome.

Players will have the ability to survey and develop land anywhere in the world. Be a pioneer deep in the wilderness, build the home of your dreams, and work the land to cultivate resources and supplies. Alternatively, stick with civilization and safety in numbers – purchase a home within the confines of a village and watch your investment grow as that village turns into a city.
Homeowners in our game will have the ability to develop their plot of land as they see fit. Focus on farming, animal husbandry, or own your very own smithy. You’ll be able to specialize your land to maximize your profits or your comfort – be sure to choose wisely.
Questing in our world combines the best elements of traditional MMO’s as well as the introduction of our unique player driven experiences. Ashes of Creation offers area quests, public quests, and quest chains that change dynamically and in real time based on the player’s experiences and choices.
Players will have the ability to directly alter world events and change the landscape through their actions, as an individual and as a community. Server quests will allow political rivals to compete for the fate of the world.
Throughout Ashes of Creation, the player has an opportunity to participate in massively multiplayer siege warfare. Since castles are likely the world’s most limited resource, it will be a task to secure and hold them. Involving hundreds of players on a single battlefield, our sieges will employ many moving parts and intricate design features.
Because of the difficult nature of taking and keeping a castle there are great rewards available to the players for their efforts. Castles will allow players to exert control over nearby lands and allow for the development of unique buildings in the nearby towns

There is so much more to this game that I could fill pages with info, so I do suggest you all go onto the “official” web page of ASHES OF CREATION and also check out some of the gameplay tests available on youtube to give you a visual idea of what you can expect.
Sadly, there is still a long wait ahead as the game is said to only release in 2019/2020, but that’s a wait that I strongly believe will be worth my time…
