The Queen Mzansi

The Queen Mzansi is a South African TV drama series that shows that power is everything. It highlights power, drugs, betrayal, and murder. It’s in the second season which premiered on Monday, 1 August, drawing in over 955 896 viewers during its 9 pm time slot. The high viewer’s rate has prompted the show to switch from its normal 4 days per week from season 1 to 5 days weekly, including Fridays.

The Queen Mzansi is a local production which expands the South African TV entertainment industry. It typifies everything that the new generation of South African TV production ought to be. It is produced by one of South Africa’s power couples, Shona and Connie Ferguson. Actors include the famous Sello Maake Ka-Ncube (Kgosi) who is also known for his portrayal of Daniel/Lucas Nyathi on Scandal, Actress and TV personality, Dineo Moeketsi (Kea) also known for her portrayal of Naledi Thebe on Scandal, Actress and producer, Connie Ferguson (Harriet), Comedian, Tumi Morake (Dolly) and Themba Ndaba.

Singer Actress Rami Chuene is also expected to join The Queen Mzansi cast during the second season of the drama series. She is well known for her portrayal of Khomotjo on Muvhango. Rami will be portraying the character of Gracious who is also a business woman. This might cause a shift in the dynamic that we have gotten used it as Gracious might cause a threat to Harriet and her empire as Harriet runs everything. This season is set to be loaded with drama.

Harriet Khosa (Connie Ferguson) is considered the queen within this drama series as it is mainly centred on her and her empire. The series also explores murder and secrets with characters backstabbing each other in order to attain power. Through all this, Harriet however always seems to come out on top but the series is expecting a few twists this seasons so stay tuned readers!
