Country music lovers are in for a treat this October as Grammy award winning group, Lady Antebellum will be performing live on the 13th October at the Grand Arena, Grandwest in Cape Town and on the 15th October at Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg.
This will be the first time that Lady Antebellum comprised of Hillary Scott (lead vocals), Charles Kelly (guitar and lead background vocals) and Dave Haywood (guitar, mandolin, piano, and background vocals) would be performing in South Africa. The group has already stated that it will give its South African fans the first taste of its new songs that are coming up of the group’s sixth studio album, Heart Break. The first single (You Look Good) from the upcoming album has already received many positive reviews and based on this single, the album promises to be fascinating.
Opening up the stage for the trio will be South Africa’s own, Refentse Morake. Morake will perform both on the 13th and 15th in Cape Town and Johannesburg respectively. His rise to prominence has been quite phenomenal, he managed to do what is regarded in the music industry as almost impossible, his debut album, “My Hart Bly in ‘n Taal” was rated platinum in less than half a year since its release. Fans are most likely to be treated to his hit songs and also a few renditions as has become a tradition at his concerts including Ed Sheraan’s “Thinking Out Loud,” Bok van Blerks’ “De la Rey” and Laurika Raunch’s “Lisa se Klavier.”
Lady Antebellum’s Tour to South Africa will include Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young, both of whom are traveling with the country music trio on their You Look Good World Tour. Kelsea is an upcoming American country music singer who released her debut album in November 2016 while Brett is an upcoming artist who released his debut album in July 2017. His music video for one track, “Like I Loved You” from the just released album has received positive reviews from many country music greats.
Lady Antebellum rose to prominence in 2006 when the group was formed with its first album. They have gone on to win seven Grammy awards, Billboard Music Awards, People Choice Award and the Teen Choice Awards. They have produced hit singles with six of them being rated Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and numerous other chart topping hits. Their 2009 single, “Need You Now” spent five weeks at the number one spot.
