We’ve read about the talented ladies part of the MAD Entertainments roster, so now this week, we take a look at a male artist. Frikkie van Biljon, although born in Klerksdorp, he grew up and spent most of his time in Viljoenskroon, Free State and after some traveling ended up studying in Potchefstroom
Singing was something that Frikkie was born to do. At 5 years old, he performed his first solo-item at their church, and from that moment Frikkie realized that he enjoyed singing and entertaining people. He would tell people that his name is Bles Bridges and would impersonate him.
Knowing that this is what he wants to do for the rest of his life, he set out at the age of 10 to compete in a talent competition hosted by Radio Koppies (now known as Overvaal Stereo). This was where a new opportunity presented itself to Frikkie van Biljon as he was awarded a recording deal at that time by Corrie Myburgh. This lead him to formal vocal training and for almost 2 years he received vocal at the conservatorium in Potchefstroom.
Currently, he is receiving vocal training from Jolanda Becker and has made himself well know as part of the MAD Entertainment team. He has also managed to rack up a few achievements over the years, from recording deals to you name it. He, however, states that his biggest achievement to this far is a personal achievement. “Rediscovering my passion for music. Once you fall into the corporate trap it’s hard to make time for the things that really drives you.”
Frikkie van Biljon is also in the process of recording his debut album with producer Bruwer Malan. He says that some of the songs from the album are from his own pen and some others in collaboration with singer/songwriter Steffie le Roux and lyricists Albert Short and Paul Venter.
With performing at festivals and working on his debut album, fans can also expect to see Frikkie van Biljon perform in the production “Uit diep van donker nagte” that will be running from 25 October 2017.
