Toyota Gaming Engine Levels Up at Comic Con Africa 2025
Get ready, gamers — the Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE) is back, and it’s bringing the heat to Comic Con Africa 2025. From 28 to 31 August, the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec will transform into a playground where pop culture meets high-octane gaming excitement.
Game Like Everyone’s Watching
The TTGE stand is set to be the ultimate gamer’s home base throughout the four-day festival. Whether you’re a seasoned pro, a casual player, or just here for the fun, there’s something for everyone. Expect daily on-stage battles, “beat the pro” challenges, and on-stand sign-ups with instant rewards.
The line-up promises thrills for all play styles:
-
Gran Turismo 7 on SIM rigs
-
Clash Royale & Subway Surfer on mobile
-
Street Fighter, EA FC, and Brawlhalla on console
-
A rotating selection of games lighting up the main stage
The Prize Drop
One of TTGE’s most iconic competitions — the Musical Chairs SIM Rigs Tag Team Challenge — will have the main stage revving with excitement. Winners will speed off with prizes like Advanced Driving Academy courses and exclusive merch.
And that’s just the start. Over R25,000 worth of cash, Takealot vouchers, experiences, and gaming hardware will be up for grabs during the festival.
“Comic Con Africa gives us a chance to connect with everyday gamers and fans who simply love the culture. Through our partnership, we’re making Toyota performance more accessible, both in-game and in real life, while continuing to support the growth of gaming in South Africa,” says Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at TSAM.
Meet & Beat Your Heroes
This year’s Comic Con Africa is pulling out all the stops. Three of South Africa’s most talented cosplayers will be on-site, each paired with a Toyota that perfectly matches their character. Fans can also catch Troy Shepherds, fresh from his Comic Con Cape Town debut, entertaining both on stage and across social media.
With this much talent in one place, photo opportunities are endless — and your Instagram feed is about to thank you.
Dress Up. Gear Up. Show Up.
Comic Con Africa has always been a celebration of creativity, community, and connection, and the TTGE team is making sure this year is more memorable than ever. So whether you’re there to compete, cosplay, or just soak in the energy, the Toyota Gaming Engine is inviting you to be part of the action.
Comic Con Africa 2025 runs from 28 to 31 August at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec. From anime and gaming to celebrity meet-and-greets and cosplay showcases, it’s the place where fandoms unite.
