For the 2025 season, he has already secured victory in three SA Kids tournaments. Months after his first big win, he participated in a grueling three-day African Junior Tournament, where his exceptional performance earned him the opportunity to represent South Africa at the World Championship Tournament in Ireland.
Luken’s journey into golf began with his father, Barries Meintjes, who introduced him to the sport at a young age. Recognizing his son’s natural ability, Barries ensured that Luken received professional training from renowned coach Tiaan Du Plooy. Under Du Plooy’s guidance, Luken’s skills flourished, and he quickly became a rising star in South African junior golf.
One of Luken’s most remarkable achievements to date is becoming the youngest South African ever to hit a hole-in-one at the prestigious San Lameer Golf Resort, a feat that seasoned players spend a lifetime chasing. His precision, confidence, and sheer love for the game set him apart from his peers and have captured the attention of the golfing community.
Now, the Meintjes family is focused on the next big goal: getting Luken to Northern Ireland for the World Championship Tournament. This elite event, set to take place from July 29, 2025, will see 250 players from 45 countries competing for top honors. For Luken, it’s not just a competition, it’s a dream come true.
