As stated by Ryan Nicholas, the General Manager of Silverstar “What makes this time of the year so special is the shared joy of giving and receiving. For us at Silverstar Casino, it is the joy of providing gifts that truly brings one of the most precious sights to behold, the delight on a child’s face of being able to enjoy a present that is truly its own”. These are redistributed to service clubs and charity organisations so that many children can celebrate Christmas with a gift.
It is in that spirit of partnership that Mr Nicholas stated that “We are committed in aiding The Toy Run and will be sponsoring the Toy Run’s Annual Conference with the provision of our conference facilities, catering and Hotel stays”. Every year the cost of the Toy Run grows, even with sponsorships in kind and special equipment hire rates, thus the more support received translates to more gifts that can be provided to children in need.
Silverstar is one of the four major departure points for the motorbike drive of approximately 80 000 people for over 10 years, which ultimately ends at Benoni Northerns Sports Grounds. The event taking place this Sunday, 26 November has over a hundred stalls, a sound stage with several bands, entertainment and a beer garden to make an interesting mornings entertainment. The only entry fee required is a Toy. Robert Lee, Head Marshall of the Toy Run highlighted that “These children have nothing” and asked for support from the public for toys “which can be educational such as stationery, toiletry items or even food vouchers”. Toys are collected from the biker fraternity of Johannesburg and the public, which is sorted by volunteers while the attendees enjoy the entertainment.
Even if you are a non-biker, you can join in the drive and bring a gift along with your loved ones and have a fun family outing. The Toy Run mass drive will start arriving at 07H00 at Silverstar Casino in Mogale City, and will leave at 09H00 for a nice long drive to Benoni Northerns Sports Grounds.
