Adel Louw’s journey to becoming a Mrs. Universe South Africa finalist has been a remarkable blend of challenges, triumphs, and personal transformation. As she stands on the brink of the competition’s finals, Adel shares her heartfelt reflections, offering inspiration to women everywhere who aspire to turn their dreams into reality.
Memorable Milestones
For Adel, the journey has been as much about making a difference in others’ lives as it has been about personal growth. One of her most memorable moments was hosting a Domestic Violence Roadshow early in her campaign. “I still receive calls from survivors of domestic violence for help,” she shares. “Also, parents who see my journey with my children often reach out for advice, assistance, or just a listening ear. This is definitely one of my favorite parts of this journey.”
Navigating Challenges with Grace
Balancing the demands of the competition with her responsibilities as a mother—particularly to a special needs child—has been a challenge. “Time management is definitely a factor,” Adel admits. “But with proper planning and assistance from my husband, all is good.” Her approach highlights the importance of teamwork and resilience in achieving one’s goals.
Exceeding Expectations
Adel’s experience in the competition has surpassed even her highest hopes. “This journey has connected me with myself on so many different levels,” she reflects. “It was just the reminder I needed to be kind to myself.”
Skills and Insights Gained
The pageant has been a game-changer for Adel. “It helped me reconnect with myself and reminded me of who I am,” she explains. This profound self-discovery has been one of the most valuable outcomes of her participation.
A New Perspective on Beauty and Empowerment
As a public figure, Adel has come to appreciate the weight of her influence. “This journey has taught me the responsibility that comes with being a public figure. In all of this, you still need to be a beacon of hope for people who feel isolated or unworthy.” Her words serve as a testament to the power of authenticity and empathy in leadership.

What’s Next?
Adel’s commitment to her causes extends beyond the pageant stage. “In my finalist journey, I’ve been selective with the projects I take on; they need to be ones I can be involved with long-term,” she explains. Her ongoing dedication to Spreading the Love, where she serves as an ambassador, and her work with the West Rand School for Disabled Children, are causes she will continue to champion. “I really hope to make them proud at our finals,” she says.
Words of Wisdom
To women considering entering a pageant like Mrs. Universe South Africa, Adel offers a powerful message: “For so long, I was the woman on the couch dreaming of something bigger. Then I realized I had something bigger inside me. I just needed to step into the next level and make my own dreams come true.”
Adel’s journey is a shining example of what happens when passion, perseverance, and purpose come together. As she prepares for the finals, she carries with her not just the hopes of her supporters but a renewed sense of self and the knowledge that she is making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
